(إِنْ يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِآخَرِينَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَدِيراً) (133)
(إِنْ يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِآخَرِينَ) It is narrated from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, that when this verse was revealed, he struck Salman's back with his hand and said: "They are the people of this one," meaning the Persians (Ajam al-Furs).
It is narrated that when it was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ struck Salman's back with his hand and said: "Indeed, they are the people of this one," meaning the sons of Persia.
(إِنْ يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ) meaning: He would annihilate you and utterly eradicate you (أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِآخَرِينَ) meaning: and He would bring forth in your place another group of people from mankind.
(إِنْ يَشَأْ) if He wills your removal and the bringing of others (يُذْهِبْكُمْ) He will annihilate you and destroy you (أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَيَأْتِ بِآخَرِينَ).
He is capable of taking them away and replacing them with other people. He only enjoins them with piety for their own good and the betterment of their condition.
(وَيَأْتِ بِآخَرِينَ) other than you, to support and aid the effort of His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
He threatens them with destruction and eradication if they abandon the effort of His Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
In this, there is an affirmation of His self-sufficiency and power, and a warning to whoever disbelieves in Him.
Some of the Salaf said: How insignificant are servants to Allah if they neglect His command!
(وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ قَدِيراً) meaning: He is capable of utterly annihilating you and bringing forth others in your place.
In this verse, there is a warning and an admonition to everyone who holds authority, leadership, or a position of power and does not act justly towards his subjects, or who is a scholar and does not act upon his knowledge or advise people, that Allah may remove him and bring someone else in his place.
