Tafsir

التفسير التبليغي

(وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ) (85:14)

(وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ): He is the One who grants opportunity after opportunity for sincere repentance.

Everyone is in dire need of His pardon and forgiveness, just as they are in dire need of His mercy, generosity, and assistance.

(الْوَدُودُ): "Al-Wadood" (The Most Loving/The Affectionate) means that if something were to happen between you and a dear one, and feelings were affected, then after a period of time, reconciliation might occur between you, but the affection (al-wudd) might not return. However, if you distance yourself from Allah by committing sins, and then return to Him, the affection (al-wudd) between you will return.

Al-Mawaddah (affection) is pure love.

(الْوَدُودُ): He is the One who shows affection and draws near to His servants through various kinds of blessings, beautiful benevolence, and forgiveness. He loves those who obey Him and turn back to Him. He is the One whom His servants love and are devoted to, because of His perfection, majesty, beauty, and benevolence.

No one will reside near Al-Wadood in Paradise except Al-Wadood (those who are loving and beloved).
