إِلَـٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ

Tafsir

التفسير التبليغي

The God (Ilah) of mankind (3)

His dominion is through servitude (to Him).

The God (Ilah) of mankind is the Deity whom hearts adore, love, and glorify; to whom all creation turns in times of distress due to His perfect self-sufficiency; and by whose remembrance hearts find tranquility and peace.

Why did it begin with the Lord (Rabb) of mankind, then the King (Malik) of mankind, then the God (Ilah) of mankind? The answer is: You might say, "So-and-so is the lord (rabb) of the house." It began with "Rabb" because its meaning is shared, as it can be applied to many people. As for "Malik" (King), it is only attributed to a select few among people, namely kings. Therefore, it was brought after "Rabb." As for "Ilah" (God), it is higher than "Malik," for the God (Ilah) is One, without partner or peer.
