(That you worship Allah and fear Him and obey me) (3)
All prophets were engaged in this very purpose.
(That you worship Allah and fear Him and obey me). This is what Allah sent the Messengers for.
(That you worship Allah): Direct your devotion purely to Him.
(And fear Him): Piety (taqwa) is the foundation and the seed, and from it is the beginning.
(And fear Him): Fear His punishment by believing in Him and acting in obedience to Him.
(And fear Him): Whoever has a living spark of love for goodness will listen to the remembrance and enter the gate of piety.
The call is simple, without burden: (That you worship Allah and fear Him and obey me).
(And obey me): In what I command you and what I forbid you.
The exegetes (mufassirun) said: There was nothing in Noah's law (shari'ah) except the call to monotheism (tawhid).
