(وَلا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلاَّفٍ مَهِينٍ (10))

﴿وَلا تُطِعْ﴾ meaning, do not obey, at any time, from them or from others, ﴿كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ﴾ meaning, one who excessively dares to swear oaths, even if his falsehood is not apparent to you. ﴿مَهِينٍ﴾ meaning, contemptible, weak, lowly in ambition and honor, and base in opinion.

﴿وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَهِينٍ﴾: Contemptible, abject, a liar.

﴿وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَهِينٍ﴾: Because he does not wish for you the good that you wish for him.

It was said concerning ﴿مَهِينٍ﴾: lack of concern, meaning he is debased in spirit.

He is described as *maheen*: meaning contemptible, vile, abject.

Reprehensible qualities: frequent false swearing.

One who swears frequently: is a liar, a hypocrite, who tries to conceal his lies and hypocrisy with this dark veil of frequent, false, immoral oaths.

﴿مَهِينٍ﴾: He has debased and humiliated himself with his vile qualities.

It was said: he is weak in argument.

"The *maheen*": Mujahid said: he is weak-hearted.
