(Or has He daughters while you have sons?) (39)
This discusses one of their claims, that by which they attribute daughterhood to Allah concerning the angels, whom they imagine to be females.
They used to consider daughters to be of a lower status than sons, to the extent that their faces would turn dark with grief when they were given the glad tidings of a female child.
(Or has He daughters while you have sons?) They are not ashamed to attribute daughters to Allah!
It means: Or have you assigned daughters to Allah, the Exalted, and assigned to yourselves the sons whom you prefer?
