(وَمِنْ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ)
The night is a time for seclusion, and it is more delightful for intimate communion [with God].
*Tasbeeh* (glorification) is the purification of the mind from everything that can be imagined in illusion, or depicted in fantasy, or that revolves in one's thoughts.
Prayer is the best of acts of worship.
Prayer is the greatest antidote for removing worry, and for this reason, "when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was troubled by an affair, he would hasten to prayer."
(وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ) According to Ibn Abbas: it refers to *tasbeeh* (glorification) after prayer.
Prayer is called *sujood* (prostration), and what is meant is: the end of the prayer. And places of worship are called *masajid* (mosques/places of prostration), and not *maraki'* (places of bowing), because *sujood* (prostration) is greater.
Ali said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to pray two *rak'ahs* (units of prayer) after every prescribed prayer, except for Fajr and Asr.
*Sujood* (prostration) is the ultimate expression of humility.
