(إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى) meaning, but he gives it seeking the Face of his Lord, the Most High, and desiring His pleasure, not for any other purpose such as recompense, praise, or reputation.
The meaning of the statement is that he does not give his wealth for the sake of anything except for the sake of seeking the pleasure of his Lord - Almighty and Majestic - not to reciprocate a favor.
Whoever works for the sake of Allah, the Generous, attains pleasure from Him - Glorified and Exalted be He.
He who engages in this social work is protected from arrogance.
You do good to people and exert effort seeking the Face of your Lord, the Most High.
"The Most High" (Al-A'la) is the One Who is above everything, the Subduer of everything, and He is the Most High in every respect: in His Essence, His Names, and His Attributes. And His is the highest example in creation, command, exaltation, perfection, greatness, and majesty.
