109- SURAH AL-KAFIRUN

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

This Surah is a declaration of severing the bonds of affection with the disbelievers, and leaving them cut off from the blessed Ummah.

The Surah of disavowal from the disbelievers.

The Prophet was a protection (Aman), and the disavowal is a respite for whoever wishes to repent.

The Surah of Hijrah (emigration) and war.

The Surah of Munabadhah (renunciation), Ikhlas (sincerity), and Muqashqishah (purification).

Munabadhah refers to renouncing the ties of affection. As for Ikhlas, it is the distinction of the believers from the polytheists. As for Muqashqishah, it indicates the nearness of healing and purification from defilement.

In the Arabic language: "In the Hadith, the two Surahs ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ﴾ and ﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾ were called: Al-Muqashqishatan (The Two Purifiers)."

﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾ (1)

﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾ (Say, "O disbelievers!") - O deniers, listen to what I say!

When the disbelievers of Makkah insisted on disbelief and hatred, and plotted to kill and expel (the Prophet), Allah commanded His Prophet to declare disavowal, emigration, and war.

﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾: Say, "Indeed, I am merely a messenger in this matter, and the affair is not my affair, nor is the decision my decision. Rather, it is the command of Allah that I convey as He has commanded me, without omitting a single letter from it."

﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾: No compromise in religion. Rather, we call things by their true names ("Al-Kafirun" - the disbelievers) and it did not say "the other" or similar.

﴿قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ﴾: No to compromise.
