85- SURAH AL-BURUJ
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Surah Al-Buruj is a Makkan Surah, and its verses are twenty-two.
It was revealed after Surah Ash-Shams.
The Quran is a program of striving (Jihad).
The Quran is the constitution for the individual's striving.
How can the Quran be the program for your life?
The Quranic programming for every individual of this Ummah.
The Surah reminds of what befell previous nations of torment for their faith, the infliction of various harms, and their patience and steadfastness.
The Surah was revealed to strengthen the believers against the harm inflicted by opponents.
The Surah was revealed so that the people of faith in every era might find comfort and be patient with what they endured from their people.
The Surah came to strengthen the believers against the harm that befalls them, and to remind them of what happened to those before them.
The purpose of this Surah is to console the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions regarding the harm inflicted by the disbelievers.
Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, informed in these verses about the story of a people whose faith and certainty were such that they patiently endured being burned by fire, and did not abandon their religion.
In it is the blessing of the righteous and the torment of the wretched.
(وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ)
Allah – glorified be He – swears by whatever He wills of His creations.
Swearing by other than Allah is polytheism (Shirk).
(وَالسَّمَاءِ): meaning, the heaven that is exceedingly high, and exceedingly well-constructed.
(وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ): meaning, the planets and the stars.
The Buruj (constellations/zodiacal signs) are high stations in the sky.
(وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ): meaning, the heaven possessing the stars.
He who detailed the heaven with such detail, and subjected these celestial bodies within it for the benefit of humankind, will not leave him (humankind) without purpose.
The Buruj (constellations) are preserved in the sky.
