(4) And when the pregnant camels are neglected,
And when the pregnant camels are neglected: meaning they are left abandoned due to their owners being preoccupied with themselves.
And when the pregnant camels are neglected: These are pregnant she-camels that have been pregnant for ten months. They will be neglected on that Day due to the severity of its terrors, (and people being preoccupied with themselves rather than with them).
On this Day, when these terrors occur, these pregnant camels will be neglected and abandoned, losing their value, and no one will care for them.
Imam Al-Qurtubi says: "Indeed, the neglect of the pregnant camels is a representation of the intensity of the distress, otherwise there will be no pregnant camels to neglect."
