Tafsir

التفسير التبليغي

(هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ)

This oath is by the times of worship, and by the worship itself, such as Hajj, prayer, and other types of acts of closeness to Allah.

Meaning, in these oaths, there is indeed a lesson for one possessing intellect.

(هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ) means: for one possessing intellect, understanding, and faith.

The intellect is called 'hijr' because it prevents a person from engaging in actions and words that are unfitting for them.

It is named thus because it restrains its possessor from what is unlawful and improper.

(هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ): The greatness of that which is sworn by requires a 'hijr' (intellect) that restrains its possessor from heedlessness and following desires, and compels him to follow the messengers, so that he may not be afflicted by what befell those who disbelieved the messengers, such as 'Ad, Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and Thamud.

(هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ) means: for one possessing intellect; because it restrains its possessor from what harms him.
