(فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ) (26)
When they saw it, they said: "Indeed, we are astray."
(فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ) the path... they called out to one another.
(فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا): When they took the path, the path to their garden, and found that what had befallen it had indeed befallen it, and what had descended upon it had indeed descended, they thought they had taken the wrong path, and that this garden was not theirs.
(قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ) (بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ) meaning: they denied it and doubted it: Is this their garden or not?
(قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ): Indeed, we are lost, we have certainly taken the wrong path. But they re-examined and re-examined, and behold, the path was indeed the path, and behold, the garden was indeed their garden, but it had been burned, and what had befallen it had indeed befallen it.
The severest deprivation is the deprivation of guidance for humankind.
(فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ) meaning that when the path led them to where their garden used to be, what appeared to them there made them deny it, and deny themselves in relation to it... It is not their garden!! Then, when they pondered the signs there, they said (بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ) "Rather, we are deprived."
