(ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ) (Then he frowned and scowled)
Ibn Burjan said: "Al-busoor" (scowling) is an expression on the face that indicates sorrow in the heart.
(ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ) (Then he frowned and scowled) meaning: He knitted his brows at the faces of the believers.
(ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ) (Then he frowned and scowled) meaning: He knitted his brows, his face became grim and changed, then he turned away from guidance after having initially approached it.
A snapshot of him knitting his eyebrows, frowning, and contracting his facial features, scowling, to collect his thoughts in a ridiculous manner.
(وَبَسَرَ) (and scowled) meaning: He frowned and contracted the space between his eyes, and his face became grim out of envy towards him, so he turned away, meaning: he reverted to his misguidance.
