Surah 4 • Verse 136

یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوۤا۟ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلَّذِی نَزَّلَ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَنزَلَ مِن قَبۡلُۚ وَمَن یَكۡفُرۡ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَـٰۤىِٕكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ وَٱلۡیَوۡمِ ٱلۡـَٔاخِرِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَـٰلَۢا بَعِیدًا

Tafsir

التفسير التبليغي

(O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book which He sent down upon His Messenger and the Book which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly strayed far astray.) (4:136)

(O you who have believed, believe!) the verse. It was revealed concerning all believers.

(O you who have believed, believe!) The Truth (Allah) addresses you with the word of faith.

(O you who have believed, believe!) Believe by word, believe by action and effort.

(O you who have believed, believe!) Meaning: Remain steadfast in your faith (in Allah and His Messenger and the Book which He sent down upon His Messenger).

Remain steadfast in faith, persevere in it, and increase in tranquility and certainty therein.

(And the Book which He sent down upon His Messenger) Meaning: The Quran.

(And the Book which He sent down before) Meaning: Every book that was sent down upon the prophets.

(Before): From the Gospel, the Psalms, the Torah, and others.

(And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly strayed far astray) Meaning: He has departed from guidance and has gone very far from the objective.

(And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly strayed far astray) And what straying is further than the straying of one who abandoned the straight path of guidance and took the path that leads him to a painful torment?

(Has certainly strayed far astray) Meaning: He has deviated from the right path and swerved from the main road.

Faith in the unseen will not become firm in our hearts except through Da'wah (invitation to Islam).

The Companions were commanded to renew their faith.

The faith of the Companions is a standard for the Ummah until the Day of Judgment.

The call for attaining faith; we achieve the desired faith through Da'wah, and the perfection of faith is through going out in the way of Allah.

The Ummah needs faith because it is the spirit of deeds, and it is what motivates to the best of them and prohibits from the worst of them.

(Believe in Allah and His Messenger) The command for Tawhid (monotheism) and faith.
