(3) Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim.
When the servant says: (Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim), Allah the Almighty says: My servant has praised Me (a praise of Allah with the beauty of Lordship).
Ar-Rahman in this world and the Hereafter, and Ar-Rahim in the Hereafter, because the mercy of the Hereafter is specific to the believers.
(Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim): Ar-Rahman to all His creation, and Ar-Rahim specifically to the believers.
(Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim): Favor after favor... and blessing after blessing... and strengthening of the hopes of those who desire, and a promise whose hopeful one will not be disappointed.
(Ar-Rahman) by the blessing of creation, (Ar-Rahim) by the blessing of sustenance: the blessing of creation and the blessing of sustenance.
He is not one of many merciful ones, but He is the sole source of mercy, glorified be He in His exaltedness.
"The merciful ones are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman. Be merciful to those on earth, and He who is in the heavens will be merciful to you."
With every act of obedience there is mercy, and with every act of disobedience there is a curse.
The greatest mercy is guidance.
Glorified be He who made us hear with bones, see with fat, and speak with flesh.
(Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim): He is Ar-Rahman: whose mercy encompasses everything, the One with vast mercy that covers everything, who shows mercy to His creation at every time and moment.
A mercy that encompasses everything, and a mercy He bestows upon whom He wills.
(Ar-Rahim): The Gentle One, specifically with the believers, who conceals their sins in this world, and shows them mercy in the Hereafter, and admits them into Paradise.
(Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim): Two names, one more tender than the other.
(Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim): Repeated because mercy is the bestowal of blessings upon one in need of guidance.
(Ar-Rahim): The One who deserves to be worshipped and adored, who shows mercy to all His creation with His mercy.
(Ar-Rahman): The One who is affectionate towards all His creation, their disbelievers and their believers, their righteous and their wicked, by creating them and providing for them. Allah the Almighty said: (And My mercy has encompassed all things). And (Ar-Rahim) specifically to the believers with guidance and success in this world, and Paradise and vision in the Hereafter. Allah the Almighty said: (And He is ever Merciful to the believers). So, (Ar-Rahman) is specific in its wording but general in its meaning, and (Ar-Rahim) is general in its wording but specific in its meaning.
(Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim): One whose mercy is all-encompassing cannot have any trace of imperfection.
The greatest expansion is for Him to expand our hearts for others, and the greatest contraction is for Him to contract our hearts from mercy.
(Ar-Rahman): The One whose mercy reaches creation in general, and (Ar-Rahim): The One whose mercy reaches them specifically. That is why someone other than Allah can be called 'Rahim' but not 'Rahman'.
Mercy is the intention of goodness and benevolence for its deserving ones. And it is also said to be the abandonment of punishment for one who deserves punishment, and the bestowal of goodness and benevolence upon one who does not deserve it.
The individual mention of the two noble attributes is to activate the chain of mercy.
