(وَإِنَّا لَجَاعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيداً جُرُزاً) .. dry, which the winds scatter.
The end of the world is annihilation.
Juruz* means annihilation and obliteration.
(صَعِيداً جُرُزاً): This is the ultimate fate of the earth; the perishing and disappearance of everything on it and everyone on it, meaning: it will turn to dust, by Our destroying that adornment through the removal of its greenery.
*Al-Juruz*: nothing is in it. *As-Sa'eed*: the land that has no trees or plants. This means: the earth and what is on it are perishable and will vanish. It was also said: *Al-Juruz* is land that has nothing in it of cultivation or adornment. Az-Zajjaj said: And *al-Juruz* is land that does not grow anything.
The story of the People of the Cave came after the initial verses of the Surah, and perhaps it doesn't seem at first glance that there is a connection between it and the story... But the truth is that the relationship is prominent, and Allah wants to show us that the young men of the Cave succeeded in the test.
And all that is above the dust is dust.
Everything around you will turn to dust, so do not make your entire concern a worldly civilization whose destiny is to turn to dust.
Indeed, the least word of truth you can utter is greater than the mounds of dust into which this life will transform.
A concise expression and a detailed expression in the story of the People of the Cave.
The concise expression includes four paragraphs or four verses at the beginning of this Surah.
It is not hidden from the discerning that conciseness and brevity are among the most prominent characteristics of the Noble Quran.
The meaning is that Allah, Exalted be He, only adorned the earth for the purpose of trial and test.
Conciseness then detail... the magnificence of the presentation...
The Noble Quran presented the story of the People of the Cave in a gentle, impactful, and appealing manner, according to the highest methods of artistic presentation, where it first presented their story in an abbreviated and concise way, then presented it in a detailed and explanatory way.
As for the way of conciseness and abbreviation: it is in the first four verses, which are the saying of Allah, Exalted be His Speaker, in Surah Al-Kahf:
And as for the aspect of detail and elaboration: it is in the verses that followed, which began with His saying, Exalted be His Name: [Al-Kahf: 13] up to His saying, Exalted be He:
