(مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَى سُرُرٍ مَصْفُوفَةٍ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ) (20)
He mentioned their sitting places and their postures therein: (مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ) "reclining on couches arranged in rows."
(مَّصْفُوفَةٍ): arranged in order, meaning placed side by side.
(مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ) prepared for them, (مَّصْفُوفَةٍ) stacked.
(سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ): made of gold, adorned with pearls, chrysolite, and rubies.
Reclining on these couches – this is true happiness.
Part of the completeness of pleasure and bliss is for a person to have with him in his garden and home someone whose company he loves and whose closeness he prefers.
The people of Paradise will have guest houses where they will host their loved ones and enjoy bliss, but their wives will not appear to non-mahram men.
Allah, the Exalted, described the women of Paradise with the most beautiful attributes.
(وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ), because the gaze is bewildered by them.
Al-Hoor (Huris): the plural of Hawra', which refers to a woman whose eyes have intense blackness in the iris combined with intense whiteness in the sclera, which is a sign of beauty and comeliness. It is also said to be intense whiteness combined with a blackness that rivals her beauty, and this is from the charm of the charming and the beauty of the beautiful.
(وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ), meaning: We gave them righteous companions, beautiful wives with wide, lovely eyes.
The light of the Hoor al-`Ain is stronger than lightning.
Various types of joy will be found in playing with the Hoor.
The observer will see his face in the liver of one of them as if in a mirror, due to the thinness of the skin and the purity of the complexion.
Whiteness in their complexions, beauty in their faces, and charm in their eyes.
Muhammad Al-Kindi says:
If a Hawra' smiles in the courtyard of her palace,
Her trees and her birds laugh with her.
And if she unveils her face and her veil,
The gardens of eternity would be illuminated by her radiance.
And if she were to spit into the depths of the sea,
The salty sea would become sweet by her saliva.
And if she were to let down a lock of her hair beneath the sky,
Her perfumes would sweeten what is between the two horizons.
