ثُمَّ ٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ كَرَّتَیۡنِ یَنقَلِبۡ إِلَیۡكَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ خَاسِئࣰا وَهُوَ حَسِیرࣱ

Tafsir

التفسير التبليغي

(ثُمَّ ارْجِعْ الْبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيْنِ يَنقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ الْبَصَرُ خَاسِئاً وَهُوَ حَسِيرٌ)

Al-Qurtubi said: "He was commanded to look twice because when a person looks at something once, he does not see its fault unless he looks at it again."

The word "ثُمَّ" (then), an particle indicating delay/sequence with a pause, was used to signify the continuous repetition over time for contemplation and reflection.

A lofty, magnificent, and preserved ceiling, enduring through successive eras and recurring years.

(يَنْقَلِبْ إِلَيْكَ الْبَصَرُ خَاسِئًا) The gaze returns to you, humiliated, having found nothing it sought.
