التفسير التبليغي

(And We have certainly adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and made them means to stone the devils, and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blazing Fire.) (67:5)

(And We have certainly adorned the nearest heaven with lamps) These are the stars that were placed therein, both planets and fixed stars.

These stars were created for three purposes: Allah created them as an adornment for the heaven, as means to stone the devils, and as signs by which people are guided.

Allah made these stars an adornment for the heaven, and a beauty, and a light, and a guidance by which people are guided in the darkness of the land and the sea.

Allah made these stars a guard for the heaven, preventing the devils from intercepting news of the earth.

(زَيَّنَّا - Zayyanā): This contains an artistic depiction of the heaven as if it were a beautiful canvas adorned with stars.

(رُجُومًا - Rujūman): From "rajm," meaning the stoning or pelting of devils with meteors. It depicts a blazing fire pursuing aggressors, which gives a sense of divine protection from the infiltration of devils.

(وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ - Wa a'tadnā lahum): This indicates that the punishment is prepared and ready, which increases the awe of the situation.

(عَذَابَ السَّعِيرِ - 'Adhāba As-Sa'īr): This suggests the severity and heat of the punishment.

(وَأَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ) in the Hereafter (عَذَابَ السَّعِيرِ) because they rebelled against Allah and misled His servants. For this reason, their followers among the disbelievers are like them, and Allah has prepared for them the punishment of the Blazing Fire.
