(And food that chokes): Ibn Abbas said: It sticks in the throat, neither going down nor coming out.
(And a blazing Fire, and food that chokes): It chokes in the throat.
(And food that chokes): Meaning, its eater chokes on it and cannot swallow it.
(And food that chokes): This is the fruit of their tree of hatred. (And a painful torment): This is the fruit of their mockery and denial.
He swallows the choking agony of deprivation and the pain of separation.
