And they said, "Do not abandon your gods, and do not abandon Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, and Ya'uq, and Nasr." (23)
And they said: meaning the leaders of Noah's people, "Do not abandon your gods, and do not abandon Wadd, nor Suwa', nor Yaghuth, and Ya'uq, and Nasr."
Qatadah said: These were deities worshipped by the people of Noah, and then the Arabs worshipped them after that.
Wadd belonged to the tribe of Kalb in Dumat al-Jandal. Suwa' belonged to Hudhayl. Yaghuth belonged to Banu Ghutayf from Murad in al-Jarf. Ya'uq belonged to Hamdan. And Nasr belonged to Dhu al-Kala' from Himyar.
